Hello Everyone!

We are halfway through our competitive season. It’s hard to believe how fast the season is going. It seems like just yesterday we were starting band camp.

There are some important pieces of information I need to share for the next two weeks. *Please be mindful of Mr. Sweer’s weekly schedule, which includes all important time information!*

1. This week’s competition is in Verona. As a heads up, the parking can be very difficult, as there is limited parking at the school. Most of the available parking is on the street, within neighborhoods. Performance time is 7:00 pm.

2. There will be a Band Parent meeting on Wednesday October 23rd at 7:30 pm. Here we will go over all the necessary information for the Rutgers Competition, including feeding the kids (see bullet ).

3. Mr. Sweer has asked that we feed our students at the Rutgers competition. The goal is to perform at prelims in the afternoon and finals in the evening. There will be a gap of time for the students to eat dinner, which will be provided to them by Hospitality. We will need a separate team (sign up coming) for food service that day.

4. Friday October 25th is Senior Night. A separate sign up will come out for families to fill out with who will be walking their senior on the field. This way we can have the announcements made ahead of time and they can just be read out. We will line everyone up in alphabetical order to make it easier.

5. There are going to be a lot of fun additions to our show. If you are helping out with logistics in any way, please pay close attention to the emails coming from Mike Shadiack (Logistics email).

6. Please be on time to pick up your students at the end of rehearsals! We understand that things come up that could cause you to be running late, but please realize that our directors wait until every student has left to go home themselves. They are tired and want to go home too.

7. There are a few important dates to keep in mind. More information will be forthcoming on those dates.

November 3rd: Championships at TCNJ. We will meet at the school to send the band off. Times will be discussed closer to that date.

November 12th: End of season Marching Band dinner. A sign up will follow, as well as exact times. This dinner is held in the RHS cafeteria.

8. As the weather is starting to change (very rapidly now!), please make sure all students have appropriate clothing, including jackets, hats, gloves etc. for rehearsals. They might tell you they don’t need them, but they really do! Also, please ensure they are layered under their uniforms for show days!

As always if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at any time. Looking forward to another great week of music and hopefully more trophies to showcase.
