Lincoln Roosevelt Bands

The mission of the Lincoln Roosevelt Elementary School Band Program in Succasunna, New Jersey is to team with parents, teachers and the school to develop responsible, respectful, confident and creative students. The high standards of excellence facilitate musical growth both individually on an instrument and in ensembles.

5th Grade Band

The Lincoln Roosevelt School 5th Grade Band is a curricular band class that meets each week for sections, full ensemble classes, and small-group instrumental lessons. This class is open to students in 5th grade who are learning to play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. The woodwind options include flute, clarinet, and saxophone. The brass options include trumpet, French horn, and trombone. Percussion consists of learning drumming rudiments as well as pitched mallet percussion on bells/xylophones. Students also receive a weekly small-group lesson to learn the basics of their instrument. The 5th Grade Band performs in two concerts throughout the year. Establishing a foundation in 5th grade is the primary focus and equips the students with the necessary skills as they move forward through the Roxbury music program. Focusing on specific fundamentals, tone quality and technique development prepares the students for ensemble and solo playing. 5th Grade Band is an opportunity for students to work together as a group for their first musical ensemble performance experience.
